Braces & Orthodontics
Dental Braces and Orthodontics is also called teeth straightening. These treatments are in high demand. Patients don't wish to accept crooked teeth and so, these treatments work to correct this.
Adult braces are now as common as those for children. It is normal for children to have orthodontics in their early teen years, however, until recently, it was not so common to see adult braces. The older generation are voting with their feet, and as such, orthodontist practices are getting busier and busier.
Options for orthodontics and braces
There are various options for orthodontics at Rock House Dental Practice.
- Metal fixed braces (also called train tracks) are traditional teeth straightening appliances. They are usually seen in younger patients where aesthetics is not of concern. Fixed to your teeth, adjustment by the dentist occurs every 4-6 weeks.
- Ceramic fixed braces are a modern variety of braces. They use tooth coloured brackets and wires so you can hardly see them. Fixed to your teeth, adjustment by the dentist occurs every 4-6 weeks.
- A lingual brace is the most advanced type of brace. Fixed to the inside of your teeth so it is totally invisible!
- Aligners are removable braces. These come in the form of an almost invisible mouthguard which you take out when you are eating. Your dentist will change the aligner every two weeks. The Invisalign brace is an example of this.
We will discuss all the options with you after a full examination. More advanced cases will involve referral to a specialist orthodontist for treatment. Whichever system you choose, we know you will get a great result.
