Dental Sedation at Rock Dental in Tettenhall, Wolverhampton
Conscious sedation is an excellent option for patients who are scared of the dentist, whatever the cause. Dental sedation is a tried and tested technique to relax patients. A sedative agent is given to the patient to take the edge off dental treatments, therefore leading to total relaxation. It’s so good that many patients feel like they are ready to drift off to sleep. As a result, we now use two amazing gadgets for needle phobics. The Wand, and The Vibraject. Both of these devices allow us to painlessly administer local anaesthesia, therefore resulting in a better experience for patients. 100% of patients that we use these on are amazed by the results. Painful injections really are a thing of the past!
“The Wand” is “a computer-controlled dental injection” and it helps to gradually deliver the local anaesthetic to the gums prior to the treatment. It doesn’t even look like a syringe at all, more like a pen. It is an electronic device (which is the computerised base) with a tube that delivers the anaesthetic through a pen-like ending. This is a pain-free injection device that removes the fear of dental injections.
The Vibraject causes the needle to vibrate masking any discomfort from the injection. You hear a buzzing sound and feel the vibration and that’s all. This small device is based on the Gate Control Theory of nerve function. In short, the theory suggests that nerve endings sense vibrations first and then cannot transmit feelings of dental injections. Or, to put it another way, it is difficult for you to feel two things in the same area at the same time. So the vibrations essentially mask the discomfort, putting you at ease during even the most dreaded injections.

Rock dental is “THE” practice to be. - Excellent first visit to the Rock Dental Practice. All the staff are friendly and professional. Particularly liked the 'real time' discussion about the Xray results - shown on a screen in the surgery a few minutes after they were taken. Can't get much better than that for patient care.
- I initially went to Rock House because of the good reviews. I had toothache and was seen quickly, despite the fact that I was not yet a patient. The problem was dealt with and I registered with the practice. The dentists have always been straightforward and honest about what needs doing - and the reverse. I knew I needed work and once this was completed it has just been check-ups and hygienist work. At all times everyone at the practice has been helpful and polite.
- I’ve been with Rock Dental for a long time. Today I went for a review of a root canal done last year by Dr Kristlee Fernandes. When it was done I couldn’t believe how painless the whole procedure had been. Kris put me at ease and was very gentle. All went well at today’s review so I know he did an excellent job. The practice is now at its new location (273 Tettenhall Road, Wolverhampton), which is beautifully appointed, spacious, warm and welcoming. All the staff are so friendly and helpful.
- Ultimate Halloween horror today. I went to the dentist this morning. It was a long job. I was given a local anaesthetic, layed back horizontally in the chair. Various clamps and grips were fixed in my mouth to keep my mouth open and my head still. Above me were three white bright lights. The surgeon set to work with her high speed drill. My mouth filled with water and I gasped to get my breath...Then.....Then I saw the WASP.
It circled me angrily, trying to get to the light.
Frantically I gasped and gurgled and pointed to the wasp .........
Just joking folks! Although there really was a big fat wasp in the surgery it was high on the ceiling and a familar sight to the team.
Excellent work done yesterday on my 4 front teeth. Thank you very much.
- I’m very happy with my experience with this dentist. I had two complex root canals done here. The results are excellent. The dentist was very reassuring and professional. The dentist even helped me out when I struggled to pay in full. I strongly recommend this dentist.

- Great practice with very professional staff. Dr Nandra and his team always put my family at ease about trips to the dentist and even my 2 under 5 now enjoy their visits which is a result given they wouldn’t even go into the room on their first trip! Could not recommend the practice enough.

- Highly recommend. Friendly atmosphere, informative and I felt completely at ease during procedures. My initial appointment back in January was an emergency. I was seen promptly by a fantastic dentist, who recommended a filling instead of a crown, which to me shows honesty and a care for saving as much of a tooth, over profit. I have since been back for hygiene appointment. Very thorough and I’m very pleased. Finally found a super dentist!
- NHS treatment just wasn’t cutting it. Joined Rock Dental when I hit 30years old and it’s honestly the best thing I’ve done for my health.
Spent a-bit initially to fix and replace some shoddy NHS work (by others) filling replacements and wisdom teeth out. but that alone made me realise how good Rock Dental is.
Dentistry to this team is a passion and an art form. They are pro active on check ups looking ahead for potential issues that may come up and advising how to avoid needing treatment.
Absolutely petrified of the dentists but Rock House was a game changer for me. I recently visited the practice for a routine check up and, as always, all the staff are extremely professional, friendly and provide the utmost care possible. - Fitted me in very quickly for an emergency appointment when my dentist was ill.
The dentist I saw did a thorough examination to establish problem, including taking an x-ray of the problem tooth. Whilst the x-ray was being uploaded she explained to me what she thought the problem was. When the x-ray came through she posted it on the screen so that I could see what and where the problem was whilst she explained. She prescribed antibiotics and advised me to keep my dental appointment on Tuesday at my usual dentist. Thank you. - Overall amazing experience from the first phone call with my enquiry being answered polity and professionally to the numerous reminders via text email and phone call (this was a lifesaver and much appreciated) the waiting room is clean and tidy. Then into my appointment now I’m not a fan of dentists but Dr Aron was calming from the moment I walked in explained everything that she was doing and even managed to get me to have a deep clean/ scale and polish (first and last one of these was 14 years somewhere else). I’ve never been happier with the look of my teeth and this is only the first visit.
- I’m normally an anxious patient, but I had such a great experience at Rock Dental. The staff was really lovely and made me feel welcome right away. Damini, the hygienist, took care of me and was amazing, she and her nurse made sure I wasn’t feeling any discomfort and kept checking in throughout. - Steve has seen my father to resize his dentures. My father is in a home and suffers from dementia so it is quite a challenging situation. Steve and the whole team made the process as seamless as possible. He explained each step of the process and was never short of time with my father and I to go into any more detail should we need to further understand anything. Steve was so patient with my father throughout.
After the impressions were taken newly refitted dentures were back within days and they were sparking clean and fitted perfectly.
I cannot recommend Steve and the team at Rock Dental highly enough. - I was out of the area I needed a dentist ASAP so from word of mouth I was recommended to go to Rock House Dental Practice and what a dentist. One of the best Practice I have been to yet, clean and tidy and the staff where like family to me very welcoming I will visit again when and if I eat too many sweets thank you all
