Emergency Dental Care - What should I do?

Call or email to arrange an appointment with the emergency dentists Wolverhampton team as soon as you can.

What should you do if you need an emergency dentist?

Contact us, the Wolverhampton emergency dentist immediately, therefore, we can arrange your dental emergency appointment as quickly as we can.

What should I do to cure a tooth ache?

If you are suffering from a painful tooth ache, something is wrong and needs to be looked at. Consequently, contact an emergency dentist in Wolverhampton straight away. Painkillers such as Ibuprofen or Paracetamol will help, however, do not exceed the maximum dose.

What should I do if I have a swelling?

An infection can lead to a dental swelling or abscess. Contact an Emergency Dentist in Wolverhampton immediately to receive treatment or antibiotics if the symptoms are systemic.

What should I do if I have fractured my tooth?

Most importantly, don't panic. The emergency dentist Wolverhampton can usually repair fractured teeth. If the tooth is painful, avoid hot or cold foods and avoid eating or biting on that side. Painkillers may help, but do not exceed the maximum dose. Pain-free treatment is usually available by contacting the Wolverhampton emergency dentist early.

What if I have lost a crown?

Keep your dental crown safe as crowns can be re-cemented to avoid further damage. Contact the emergency dentist in Wolverhampton immediately.

What if I have knocked a tooth out?

The tooth needs to be re-implanted into its socket immediately unless its a baby tooth. Feel free to call the emergency dentist in Wolverhampton for advice.

Most importantly, do not handle tooth root too much to protect the fibres around the root surface. Pick up the tooth only by the white part (the crown). If the tooth is dirty, then quickly (less than 10 seconds) rinse it in clean water.

For adults, if possible, place the tooth back into the socket and splint in place with silver foil. If you cannot place the tooth back into the socket, then do not place the tooth in water. Instead, place the tooth in cold milk or on one side of your mouth between your teeth and cheeks.

For children, do not try to replace the tooth as they may swallow it. Instead, place it in a cup of milk.

Either way, contact the Emergency Dentist Wolverhampton immediately.

What if I have broken my denture?

Firstly, do not glue them together yourself as consequently, this makes a repair very hard. Secondly, contact the emergency dentist to arrange the repair.

Infected and diseased teeth

To treat the infection in the root, the bugs will need removal. Your Emergency Dentist Wolverhampton will provide guidance on the best possible solution. Often, removing the tooth or trying to save it with root canal treatment are the only options. Both these treatments can be provided as an emergency dental treatment.

I’m normally an anxious patient, but I had such a great experience at Rock Dental. The staff was really lovely and made me feel welcome right away. Damini, the hygienist, took care of me and was amazing, she and her nurse made sure I wasn’t feeling any discomfort and kept checking in throughout. I felt genuinely cared for and so much more at ease than usual. Highly recommend!!😁 - 7/01/2025

Today I had an emergency appointment due to severe tooth pain. I was seen almost immediately, which was a huge relief.
The whole team was extremely kind, professional, and caring. The dentist took a very personal and compassionate approach, explained everything clearly, and genuinely tried to help in a very stressful situation. I truly felt looked after and treated as an individual, not just another patient.
Despite the pain and stress, the atmosphere was calm and reassuring.
Outstanding service, very helpful staff, and a truly caring approach.
Thank you very much — I would highly recommend this practice to anyone in need of urgent dental care.

As a Rock Dental patient of many years standing, I cannot speak highly enough of this excellent dental practice. Everyone works as a highly efficient and professional team which is coordinated by Natalie the Practice Manager.
I first met Natalie some years ago when to me as a patient, dental implants were a phenomenon.
Natalie’s detailed explanations, her extensive knowledge of the subject and her expert guidance gave me the confidence to go ahead.
Over the years I have had six dental implants thanks to Natalie’s initial reassurance and superb customer service. Natalie gave me the confidence to go ahead and I can highly recommend implants to anyone who is interested.
Always welcoming and friendly I heartily recommend Rock Dental for excellent service regardless of which branch of dentistry is required.

Had my first appointment yesterday and was extremely impressed by the service I received. The staff were all friendly and knowledgable, the waiting room was clean and comfortable and the consult room was incredibly well equipped. I left feeling very confident with a detailed treatment plan and a clear expectation of costs moving forward. I can honestly say it’s the best experience I’ve ever had a a dentist and I wish I’d gone to this practice sooner! - 9/12/2025

Went to This dentist today for an emergency appointment. Exceptional from receptionist to dentist. There’s no one more nervous about visiting the dentist than me and they made me feel completely at ease. Had to have the tooth extracted but my dentist Kiran made sure it was completely painless. Can’t thank you enough x
So impressed I have registered with the practice and won’t be going anywhere else again.

I am most fortunate to have Rock Dental Practice as my surgery, since the first day I walked into their practice over three years ago, I have received nothing less than a very warm and courteous reception from all staff. I have required some dental work which was crucial, the time, care and the level of work done was Ace and the time and dedication given in explaining what procedure I need to help me understand what need to be done is also Ace . Thank you for your care and professionalism. - 10/17/2018

As an anxious patient, I can't thank this practice enough. They seem to go above and beyond to put the patient at ease. They show no judgement, but all the staff I encountered were caring and compassionate, right from the minute I rang up and then stepped through the door.Treatment suggestions are gently made, and I received a phone call the morning after my emergency appointment to check how I was. I feel I can trust them, which says a lot. Grateful new patient! - 6/14/2024

Excellent first visit to the Rock Dental Practice. All the staff are friendly and professional. Particularly liked the 'real time' discussion about the Xray results - shown on a screen in the surgery a few minutes after they were taken. Can't get much better than that for patient care. - 2/01/2019

positive review  I am needle phobic. The last time I saw a dentist was when God was a boy. I was seen by Kiran and Gemma.
I love both of them as I had the dental wand for a filling. It then turned into a tooth extraction. The best £257 quid I will ever spend. If you are terrified of dentists? I am a world champion of needle phobia. Not now. AND I DO MEAN PAINLESS!

I hadn't been to the dentist for a very long time as the fear of going would make me so anxious. I spoke to a lovely dental nurse named georgina, she was so sweet and understanding with my situation. I had two extractions and it went so smoothly thank you Anoup and Georgina for making me feel so comfortable and not being judgemental that I abandoned my detal care due to fear of the dentist. - 7/19/2023

positive review  First appointment at the rock house dental practice today. Would recommend them -especially for someone who is either nervous or haven’t been to the dentist for awhile (this was me) .
A very thorough assessment and talked through everything and different options , were not pushy over recommendations and treatment plans

NHS treatment just wasn’t cutting it. Joined Rock Dental when I hit 30years old and it’s honestly the best thing I’ve done for my health.
Spent a-bit initially to fix and replace some shoddy NHS work (by others) filling replacements and wisdom teeth out. but that alone made me realise how good Rock Dental is.
Dentistry to this team is a passion and an art form. They are pro active on check ups looking ahead for potential issues that may come up and advising how to avoid needing treatment.
Absolutely petrified of the dentists but Rock House was a game changer for me. Should have joined 10 years sooner.
