Anti-Ageing Botox Treatments
Looking good, feels great. Turn back time by reducing fine lines and wrinkles using anti-ageing botox treatments.
Why use anti-ageing botox treatments
Lines appear on our faces as we use our muscles for expression and this is completely normal. Ageing is inevitable, and as such, some of these lines become deeper, remaining, even when we are not using those muscles. Have you heard the expression "wearing your emotions on your sleeve?" In reality, you wear them on your face.
The repeated use of the facial muscles in a particular manner leads to the appearance of permanent facial lines. Consider, a new pair of shoes has no creases across them unless walked in. However, over time, these lines remain even when you take the shoes off. Our skin behaves in the same manner. Facial lines form whenever we frown, squint or smile. Over time, they remain even at rest.
When your facial muscles contract, a creasing of your skin occurs, consequently, anyone can see that you are frowning. If you're angry or annoyed, for example, you knit your brows together. The lines that appear between your brows (glabellar lines) actually result from muscle movement and the passage of time.
Women tend to be more prone to these lines. A woman's skin is more delicate than male skin, and therefore, these lines appear more exaggerated and permanent.
Fortunately, there is a way to reduce moderate to severe facial lines. Anti-wrinkle botox treatment involves reducing the activity of the muscles that cause wrinkles. This type of treatment uses botulinum toxin products, commonly known as “botox”.
Cosmetic Injections
The botox treatment is preventative and stops your skin from forming lines and creases. It temporarily freezes the muscle. The aim is to break the habits that cause our facial lines to form to soften your face and make you look younger. Treatments are quick and painless.
Cosmetic injections can combine with other treatments to improve the skin. They work well with dermal fillers which add volume under the skin creases.
What is botulinum toxin?
Botulinum toxin is a type of bacteria (Clostridium botulinum) which gives rise to a muscle-relaxing treatment. It is the only treatment of its type, which has Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval. The injections work by stopping nerve signals from reaching the muscles so that they don’t contract as often. Many medical procedures involve the injection of toxin into hyperactive muscles. It has been safely and effectively used for treatments since the early eighties. It is used routinely in the treatment of excessive sweating too!
How does botulinum toxin work?
Hyperactivity of the facial expression muscles results in the development of facial lines. Frown lines, forehead lines and crow's feet, all are names for these lines. Injecting toxin into the affected area leads to a temporary paralysis of the muscles responsible for causing the lines. Therefore, giving the face a more relaxed and pleasant appearance. The fine lines become smoother or disappear altogether.
Do muscle relaxing injections hurt?
No. Although you will have an injection with a needle, it is tiny. As a result, you will not feel pain. Its quick and easy and the whole process is over in minutes.
What is BOTOX?
Botox is a brand name for botulinum toxin. There are many similar brands available (e.g. Dysport, Azzulure etc…).
Botox is a prescription only medicine. It temporarily smooths frown lines between the brows and other areas. At therapeutic doses, it reduces muscle activity preventing frown lines forming. One 10-minute botox treatment is all it takes. A few tiny injections and within days there's a noticeable improvement. Results, which can last up to 8 months, do vary between patients.
Millions of people have undergone Botox treatments since FDA approval in 2002. Not just models and movie stars, but people from all walks of life.
How long does Botulinum toxin work for?
The initial effects of treatment become visible within 48 to 72 hours. However, the maximum effect takes about 2 weeks. Your facial expression will become more relaxed but no means mask-like. Consequently, the overall result is very natural. It is not a permanent treatment and, the effect generally lasts up to 8 months. Once the effect has worn off, you can have re-treatment as required.
What is the best age to get botox injections?
Don't wait too long is the answer. Botox won't help very deep lines and wrinkles where the muscle has wasted away underneath. In these cases, you may consider dermal fillers instead. Try to remember, prevention is better than the cure. Botox injections prevent the creases from forming in the first place. There is no set age for treatment as your skin is different to everyone else.

How to choose a botox practitioner?
There are so many adverts for botox and therefore, it can be confusing to know where to go. Take word of mouth guidance, speak to your friends and read online reviews. Do your research. It's really important to look at the qualifications of the provider. Botox is a prescription only medicine, and therefore, it requires a prescription in your specific name. A doctor, a dentist or a special type of nurse are the only people that can provide this. The rules are very strict on this.
Don't risk your health, and thus, choose a fully qualified and experienced practitioner. Our injector is Dr Karan Jolly. He is a medically qualified doctor and works in an ear nose and throat department. Our patients can be confident that they receive the best treatment in his fully qualified and capable hands.
