Implant Dentures
Implant dentures have been a revelation for patients without teeth.
It's not easy wearing full dentures. They require time to get used to and it takes a particular skill to hold them in place. However, with the addition of dental implant fixtures, these problems disappear. Dental implants insert into the jawbone and provide a stable and secure platform for the dentures to attach to. It's actually very simple!
Total tooth loss is a serious life event. Many patients report that they subsequently experience lowered self-confidence.
Full dentures have been the traditional standard of care for patients without teeth for more than a century. Upper dentures are easier to wear without problems, but most patients struggle to eat with a lower denture because of its mobility. Technological advances and cultural changes have, quite rightly, resulted in increased patient expectations. So much so that, many patients now find it unacceptable to consider traditional dentures. Dental implant retained dentures are the solution!
Patient Feedback
Our patients always give great feedback about this treatment. Many of them have suffered in silence for a number of years and as a result, they always comment that they wish they had considered implant dentures sooner. Implant dentures look good and feel great and for this reason, we love that we are able to achieve life-changing results for them.
Benefits of Implant Dentures
- Improved confidence as now patients do not have to worry about the denture moving out of place
- Increased ability to chew due to being able to exert more force with the teeth
- No need for denture adhesives or denture glue
- For easy cleaning and maintenance, the implant dentures are removable.
Types of implant supported dentures
There are two main types. Retention studs can be used to secure your implant dentures. Alternatively, a metal bar is permanently fixed within your mouth to which the implant denture attaches. A lower denture may need only two dental implants to support it. Due to the effects of gravity, an upper denture will need six implants to hold it in place.
Ball or Stud Retained Implant Dentures
The denture houses the female part and therefore the implant acts as the male part. The denture securely clicks into place. These types of denture are commonplace in the lower arch.
Bar-Retained Implant Dentures
A milled metal bar attaches to the dental implant and so, the entire bar acts as the male part. The denture includes a metal sleeve insert which clips onto the bar. This is a very secure and stable type of attachment and therefore, this type of denture is commonplace in the upper arch.
How much do Implant Retained Dentures cost?
The fees vary dependant on the number of implants used. For this reason, a detailed and thorough dental examination will need completion prior to a quotation. Please contact the practice for an appointment.
